Senior Planner required for leading northern regional main contractor based in Leeds. Reporting to the Regional Director this position offers a dynamic working environment where you will be at the centre of operations for the business throughout Yorkshire leading the project planning function including input at tender stage and in supporting project management to ensure sites are fully coordinated and able to deliver projects on schedule and to the satisfaction of the client base.

The company works across several industry sectors including commercial, education, health, leisure, retail & residential and enjoys a high level of repeat business from private sector clients and inclusion on regional and local authority frameworks providing a consistent and progressive workload and turnover for this privately owned business.

Key Duties:

• Developing, analysing, and updating the project programmes and supporting documents throughout the lifetime of the project in conjunction with site project management teams
• Initiating and overseeing the detailed Construction Programmes and Design and Package Procurement Schedule, in order to ensure that work is being carried out to meet the Project requirements. Collecting data and updating programmes to show progress or delays and providing weekly reports to the Management Team concerning the status of projects
• Development of the project programmes with relevant parties, including sub-contractors and suppliers
• Responsible for programme development and implementation plans to ensure works carried out in compliance with internal policies and procedures
• Benchmarking and monitoring of projects, ensuring they are running to schedule and to promote continuous improvement; informing the project team of any slippage
• Provision of regular progress reports, whilst flagging critical path items, and possible risks identified
• Overseeing project risk registers of the project with the project team
• Continually improvement and development of relevant project documentation
• Actively encourage/develop alternative construction techniques to achieve better timescales, whilst maintaining the project requirements for budget, quality and safety
• Maintaining records of the project timeframes and achievements for future reference

Candidate Requirements:

• Conversant with and skilled in the use of modern planning software such as MS Project and Asta Powerproject
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
• 5 years project planning experience within the construction industry working for main contractors on £multi-million projects
• Experienced in working within budgets and timescales
• Degree or HNC in a relevant construction discipline
• Must be eligible to live and work in the UK
